What a difference a week makes....

I'm back after what was one of the most relaxing weeks I have had in the last few years without a shadow of a doubt. I got everything and more out of my week in the South of France. Sunshine, relaxation, laughs, chats and the odd glass of vino, created a mix that will last in my memory for a long time.

I went with two school friends whom I had never been abroad with but certainly hope to again. I really enjoyed their company, their chats, listening to their views on life and hearing about their travels. As life is so busy you sometimes miss out on different events in peoples lives and what really is happening with them, so it was nice to have a catch up with the girls.

I feel like a detox is in order after sampling some of the finest food. We found the food to have quite an Italian influence due to the proximity of Nice. There was a great selection of Restaurants to choose from, towards the end of the week we actually found it too hard to choose.  Prices varied on most nights with the average price €15 for a main and €5.50 for a glass of White Wine.

One of my favourite parts of Nice was the Cours Saleya. By day it was a bustling marketplace with Fresh Fruit and vegetables, and beautiful flowers, and by night beautiful artworks and crafts surrounded by the bustling restuarnts and bars on either side.

Towards the end of the week, we visited a Beach outside of Nice which was couple of Train Stops on the SNCF from Nice and worth a visit. The beaches in Nice were quite Stoney so this beach was easier on the Feet. Leaving Ville de France we headed to Monaco the home city of the iconic Grace Kelly, Actress, Princess and Style Icon. We also visited the Casino Royal in Monte Carlo where seeing a Ferrari was the norm! Bit different to the roads around Ireland. All an experience though to see how the other half live!

Cannes for me was an enjoyable experience..Again it was experiencing how the other half live but for me to stand on the steps on the red carpet where hundreds of actors and actresses have stood for the Cannes Film Festival was something else. I took a moment to stand at the bottom of steps closing my eyes visualising the camera flashes, the buzz, the excitement, and would it be possible to be standing there for real some day!

All in all it was the holiday I was craving for mentally and physically, to clear the mind and refresh the soul. No matter where in the world life can be just the same and we should be happy with what we have or inspired to live the life we want.. I'm half way through my list of goals and looking forward to achieving them...
